Project Panther LIFE. Panther Learning is for Everyone.
A partnership among Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Parent to Parent of Miami, and the College of Education to develop and oversee the implementation of a postsecondary transition program for students with intellectual disabilities that will prepare eight students with intellectual disabilities over a four year period to complete a structured and individualized curriculum offering two professional/career tracks and a system of supports through academic mentoring, peer and job coaching, and faculty advising. Diana Valle-Riestra, an assistant professor of special education at FIU’s College of Education and head of Project Panther LIFE Panther LIFE students are supported by a $15,000 grant awarded from the Florida Consortium on Postsecondary Education and Intellectual Disabilities to the College of Education.
