The Jewish Museum of Florida – FIU tells the story of more than 250 years of Jewish history, art and culture in the Sunshine State. Housed in two beautifully restored art deco former synagogues, our collection begins in 1763 when Jews were first allowed to live in Florida and journeys through the long-standing traditions of a rich heritage and major contributions to the development of the state. At the Jewish Museum of Florida – FIU, we collect, preserve and interpret these fascinating stories through a variety of exhibitions, as well as educational and entertaining programs. In 2012, the museum and FIU entered into a historic partnership igniting a new era of interdisciplinary education and research combining this localized view of Jewish culture and history with the global expertise of FIU faculty who specialize in the extraordinary and unparalleled diversity and plurality of Jewish communities all across the world.
