The FIUnity Gospel Choir performs uplifting repertoire from the African-American tradition, including hymns, anthems, spirituals, and contemporary music that expresses and exemplifies rich cultural roots. Members of the FIUnity Gospel Choir are university ambassadors who uplift and inspire FIU and the community at large. Funds collected will be used to support the choir with activities that do not fall within the normal events currently funded by the School of Music (i.e., course required Spring/Fall concerts with musicians, class supplies, etc.). The funds will support the extracurricular events, that may occur on or off-campus, in developing talent, enhancing performances (i.e., securing guest soloists and musicians), producing promotional items (i.e., photography, videography, apparel), expenses of off campus performance sites, and outreach engagements in the community and the local schools.
"FIUnity is such a beautiful, fulfilling, wholesome experience. Having joined during the hardest period of my life, the power of the lyrics and music lifted my soul, helping me keep my head high.”
“This choir is more than just another class, it is a family. We have all opened our hearts and shared with each other, which has served to foster a respect and appreciation for each other - that will, in turn, help us better our communities.”
“I truly found a place where I belong at FIU. It fills my weeks at school with peace and serenity. I started to feel less alone on campus and more joyful, knowing I have a family of people wanting to lift each other, encourage each other, and strengthen each other as well.”
